Salads are rich in vitamins and minerals, helping to prevent and to treat a variety of diseases (what a natural remedy!). Salads can be raw, cooked or even mixed with other foods. Benefit from nature’s best and make them a constant presence in your daily life.
There are many advantages in consuming leaves and vegetables and some of them are not easily found in other foods, so make the conscious choice of eating your veggies raw. Salads have a high water content, which contributes to hydration; they also have a low caloric index.

Veggies are easily digested by the body, so they do not impair any organ’s functioning, especially your digestive system. Another advantage of regular salad consumption is that it helps with weight loss.

Tomatoes are one of the most versatile fruits (yes, fruit, not vegetables!) on your menu. They go well as a salad ingredient and also in the pasta sauce. Tomatoes are on an important and select list of the most consumed foods in the world. In addition to the flavor they bring to any recipe, they have amazing nutritional benefits for your body.
- 3 ripe tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- olive oil to taste
- freshly ground black pepper to taste
How to prepare
Wash, dry and cut each tomato, discarding the lid. Transfer the slices to a bowl.
Peel, cut in halves (passing the knife through the root), and slice the onion into thin half-moons. Add to tomato, season with salt and mix well. Transfer to a colander and place over the bowl. Tip: take it to the refrigerator and let it drain for 30 minutes – the salt will dehydrate the pulp and make the tomato more fleshy, in addition to reducing the sting of the onion.
After 30 minutes, transfer the tomato and onion salad to a platter. Season with olive oil and freshly ground black pepper. Melt-in-the-mouth yumminesss!
For a twist, cut a cucumber in cubes and add it to your salad.
