I decided to start using retinol because at 39, I want and need to take care of some unwanted wrinkles.
Even though I take really good care of my skin regularly, my dermatologist recommended Retinol as an anti-aging prevention routine.
Many people do not tolerate the use of Retinoids but for me it was a bliss from the start. You should test it first in a small area before continued use.
I use this routine 3 times a week because my skin gets too dry otherwise. I also like to try new products so my skin does not get used to the same routine. I am constantly looking for the best results.
Please refer to Caroline Hiron’s blog if you need detailed information about Retinol/vitamin A. Caroline is an expert and the most knwoledgeble person I have seen in regards to skin care. I simply adore her work.
This routine includes a couple of steps:
1. I start by removing all make up and impurities off my face. If I am not in a rush, I use Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm. This product is wonderful, it removes simply everything and leaves your face super soft. You will need a warm cloth to remove it completely from your face. If I am running late, I use my Caudalie Gentle Cleansing Milk or my Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water.
2. The MUST HAVE: La Prairie Cellular Refining Lotion. This is one of the best products I have ever used. I have it at all times. This Toner completes the cleansing process and it is an alcohol-free toner. It is formulated with gentle plant extracts for maximum hydration and to calm irritation. This rich lotion soothes and softens the skin. My skin feels the difference immediately.
3. Now it’s time for a potent serum. I am on my second bottle of the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum. Quite frankly, I don’t think it is worth the money. I could not see results with this product if it is used alone or without a good combination routine. I know it is one of the best sellers out there but I am ready to try another one once this bottle is over. I am sorry Estee Lauder.
4. Now the magic starts! I have tried a couple of Retinoids but this is the current one: AIROL 0.5% ( with prescription ) and I combine it with a layer of a very rich cream, the Avene Crème Nutritive Compensatrice Riche.
This is a super rich moisturising cream that nourishes, hydrates the skin while preventing moisture loss and adds an powerful anti-oxidant protection. AIROL is made by Pierre Fabre Laboratories, the same producer of AVENE, being the Dermatological Wing.
The results I had in 2 weeks have been so amazing that I am mesmerised with the amount of compliments I received.
Mission being accomplished ….
And to make this routine even more pleasant, I use Lush Pink Peppermint to soften my feet. I apply it and wear it with socks before going to bed 😉
